So it can record trips while the app is closed. Without it, the timeline only fills in while WayTime is open. Your history stays on your phone either way.
WayTime lowers its GPS use when you're staying put and only sharpens it when you move. Most people see a small share in Settings › Battery.
Tap it on the timeline. You can rename it, change how you traveled (WayTime learns from this), split or remove it, or restore it as recorded.
Your iPhone's iCloud Backup includes WayTime. You can also use ••• › Your data › Back up now to save one file, then restore it on the new phone.
Restore: ••• › WayTime Pro › Restore purchases. Cancel: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › WayTime. Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.
It records what the IRS asks of a mileage log: the date, places, business purpose and miles of each trip, kept as it happens. WayTime keeps records; it isn't tax advice, so check with your tax professional.
